Yeah the paints been cooked but the interior is pretty decent considering and the body is rust free and really straight. I will take some pics and put them up here in the next few days or so.

What do think about this cam lobe and lifter valley? There is quite a bit of sludge and the lobe is showing significant wear. Normal? Or time to replace the cam/valve train?

Don't reuse ANYTHING from that motor, except for the tins, and maybe the intake. The rest is scrap metal.

I guess I’m just going to rebuild it then. I will assess the bottom end and report back. Guy said it was a runner with 100k but it was run hard and abused. Any way, no worries here, just going to take my time.

In your original post, you stated the block is dusted...... That doesn't sound like a rebuildable core to me...... Get a junkyard motor that still runs. Mileage doesn't matter. Rebuild that one.

Sorry, I wasn't quite clear, this IS the used engine that runs, this what found when I popped the keg, I was pretty disappointed.

Ah, ok. That makes a LOT more sense.

Yeah, rebuild it, replace the cam/lifters/anythingelsethatlookslikeitneedsit. Having a fresh motor really won't hurt your feelings.
