Default Delphi FE0079 Fuel Pump

Hi, I’m looking for some advice on fuel pumps. The (in tank) fuel pump on my 1990 Dodge Ram Van B250 failed recently. I replaced it with a Delphi FE0079. I’ve now fitted a 3rd! 2 have failed after just a few hundred miles each in a matter of weeks. The first failed at 55mph, just cut out. The vehicle was recovered but when it arrived at the garage, it was working again. Whilst on the ramp, it stopped running. We replaced the pump to be safe.
Then after a few hundred miles, the vehicle started running lean. We checked the pump psi and it was pushing less than 10psi. It’s rated at 15psi. So we have replaced the pump again and it is running correctly again. But for how long? It is heralded as a premium pump by 2 of my parts suppliers. Basically I’m now looking to upgrade and install a pump externally. But also interested to hear of anyone else with the same experience. Could it be a power supply issue for example? Can anyone assist/advise? Thx Jay

ps. I’ve reached out to Delphi awaiting their response.

Did you replace the sock on the pump as well? (I note they come separately now??? Really????) How about the inline filter? Has that been changed?

Switch to a different brand, seems to me there is a quality control issue with the Delphi batch floating around you.

I think this is a good course of action.... Delphi *usually* has a pretty good rep...... at least, they used to.... Maybe see if you can find a Denso pump.
