As stated below, it's a heat thing. Heat kills your transmission, and towing in o/d puts a heavy load on it, thus, generating a LOT of heat. If the trans gets TOO hot, the PCM will automagically disable o/d, and the light in the dash comes on. The fact that you HAVE the light in the dash, indicates you should have an O/D off switch somewhere. Should be a button on the end of the shifter handle???
yea - also to expand on the OD question...Imagine you are on a ten speed bike with your girlfriend on the back...you put it in to 10th gear..how long before you legs give out
I swapped a 360 into a shorie van and we didnt have time nor could figure out how to swap the steering collum. Everthing works fine..I just dont have an overdrive cancel button..i need to figure out how to make one.
I never towed anything this heavy...a 1000lbs trailer is nothing - and OD can be used with that...but with my RV NO WAY...Im glad the PCM turned it off...
I think there are all of two wires involved. One is a five volt feed, and the other is a signal return to the PCM. Check here for wiring diagrams for it.

I see what you mean now...
it looks like you would just ground the orange to defeat OD
...correct?
