While my van is running perfectly and has no PCM problems, I decided to buy a refurbished PCM from eBay to swap out now, keeping my original (known working) PCM as a backup.
I don’t want to wait until working PCMs REALLY become hard to find to find to have mine inevitably fail and then have to troubleshoot with PCMs which are of unknown condition.
It cost me $328 after tax, but I feel so much better knowing that a failing PCM won’t be a huge problem in the future.
Installed the “new” one this morning, and I’m pleased to find that it’s working perfectly (so far, at least).
I would suggest doing the same to anyone who plans to drive their old Dodge until the wheels fall off.
I bought it with my VIN preprogrammed from one of the PCM remanufacturers. I know it's a crap-shoot with these companies which is why I wanted to do this while I'm not having any other mechanical gremlins.

That’s actually a pretty smart move in my opinion. Electronics like PCMs are getting harder to find for older vehicles, especially when the manufacturers stop producing them. Having a known good spare on the shelf can save a lot of stress later. I’ve seen people stuck for weeks trying to track one down after a failure.
