hi all,..
let me see if I have this correct...

The overdrive switch wire comes out of the PCM - is orange with a white stripe...and here is one part I need help with - I THINK it comes out of the PCM in the connector that would be considered the passenger side when mounted - is that correct?

then if I ground that wire, my OD Off should work - it may set a code which I am OK with,,,but I need to do this as I cant turn the od off...

O/D switch is just a momentary switch. It simply sends a signal back to the PCM to change overdrive state. (enabled/disabled) Should see a 5 volt reference signal at the switch... and switch should show continuity when pressed.

 

I don't have a switch...

See...I swapped the motor, trans,.and harness out, but ran out of time for the steering column---so no switch...the light is there and when I tow REALLY heavy, the OD cancel comes on when it get hot..
So it works, I just want to know if I ground the orange/white wire would that be OD cancel so I can tow in only third gear?

Ok, looking at the wiring diagrams for a 2000 B2500..... (as I don't remember what you have.....) Orange/white wire is indeed the feed to the switch, from the switch, it does just go to a ground...

I don't know if that is just momentary switch, or a two position switch though.... I *think* it's just a momentary.... but, not 100% on that.

 

Ok Ill get one and try it...they are $2 on Temu....

I have a toggle I can use already in the van for when I had something else set up...so the wiring is even there for it too...I just have to try it...

Diagram says orange/white.... So, "probably".

Wire should go to connector "C", cavity 13...... The resource I have doesn't show me which is which though.

I think I am going to just try to ground it and see if the light comes on
