Default Rear heater core removal help

2001 3500 5.9L Maxi

I have the heater core unbolted, but I want to know what to expect before removing the hoses to connect them together. I'm assuming I should connect them under the van where they connect to the under side?
Will there be coolant that comes out of the hoses when I disconnect them? Should I drain the system before I start? (I haven't replaced that fluid yet, since buying the van, so it does need doing.)

I'm currently working on the inside on the flooring for my camper conversion, and while that section isn't crucial for flooring right away, it would be nice to have it out of the way sooner rather than later. It will be under a cabinet, and I need the space for water/grey water tanks.

If you are going to do a drain and fill anyway, no better time than the present. Otherwise, I've been known to use a couple pair of vice grips, and some slat scrap to pinch off the hoses before disconnect. I stay dryer that way.

if you really want to take out the rear heat...there are two or maybe one diverter valve under the hood off the heater hoses themselves....those are the hoses you would wan to 'get rid of'....now if you find these junctions and plug/reroute them then you dont have to do anything else than other than decommissioning the rear core out...
the hoses on mine go from these junctions down the frame rail and then into the frame where they come back out in the rear area behind the drivers rear wheel. I would thing the conversion companies did something different for all...this is the way mine is set up....the AC lines follow a similar path....
so if I was going to get rid of the rear, it would include the AC too...
