EFI upgrade 1996 B2500
I am upgrading the factory efi to a aftermarket intake manifold and sniper2 efi. My question is what do I do with all the factory wiring? Can I just wrap them up or is it going to send a code to the computer and will I have an eternal check engine light? The sniper kit has an onboard computer and has its own wiring harness. I didnt think about this when I purchased everything from summit racing and I am in the middle of the install now.
Do you have an automatic transmission? If so, the factory PCM controls that as well.... Not to mention any flavor of ABS you might have. And cruise control.... there is probably more I am not remembering at the moment.
I was told that I could get code killers from a speed shop that I could plug into the disconnected plugs wire that went into the intake manifold. I will be checking into that. Maybe summit racing where I bought the kit from?
Are you going to be leaving the factory PCM in there???? If so, in order for it to properly run the trans, it's gonna need some of those inputs......

I thought that I would be better off. Im am going to use the van as a camper in the Rockies, I live in Louisiana. I thought that the sniper, since is is continually learning would be better than factory considering the change in elevation 6' to 12,000' above sea level

The stock system is constantly learning as well. It will even learn your driving style....
Well Im in a pickle now because I have unboxed everything and of course I threw away all the boxes so I am in it to win it. I guess Ill get it installed and deal with the tuning and whatever else pops up. Just another project started that I wish I would have never started.
I'm sure you could sell it if you wanted to. Big question is the pcm going to work with out seeing an engine?
Maybe you should have came here first before buying.
