Throttle body injection, not port injection...

Oil usage now absolutely minimal.

Ooops. 91. Missed that.

Can you watch the spray pattern from the injectors? See if it stays pretty similar left/vs right, as you open the throttle a bit? One of them spraying nice, and the other kinda dripping will give you some odd results.

If you look down into the throttle body with the butterflies open, does it look oily? If so, you could have the infamous plenum gasket issue sucking oil into the intake plenum, which in turn allows oil to get down into the cylinders.

I don't think he has a two-piece intake. His is TBI, and I think it's a dual-plane intake.

Now that is something I can check...

Does that problem produce the issues I have, rough running, power loss and undue fuel consumption?

Yep. Burning oil fouls the plugs, and O2 sensors, clogs the cat, and a host of other fun things if it goes on too long.

I'll go buy a gasket set tomorrow and have a good look at whether or not it's prudent for me to get my hands dirty with this job on my own...

I have a mobile mechanic I can call in if I need, but I'd rather do it myself.

Is there anything else in the way of parts I'm likely to need? Once I start on the job I'll likely be immobile until it's done.

Went checking on youtube to see if I could learn anything...

The only video about the TBI manifolds is about changing to carburettor. Lots of stuff there on the Magnums. Lots.

The kegger manifold is the one with the steel pan on the bottom. Two-piece intake. TBI doesn't have that.

Yes, I see that...

This is a fairly ordinary manifold, gaskets to the head surface and a gasket on the base of the TBI unit.

So where does it suck in the oil? At the head surface gasket?

Next point of interest is that NAPA cannot get these gaskets (no listing whatever) and O'Reillys have them only to special order - if they can get them, I'm waiting on a call.

What are my prospects of ever getting to the bottom of this?
