Cool, at least I spotted that the plug wires were made in 1990 so I'll look at changing them instead...does anybody own a timing light anymore?

Sure, it's a simple way to diagnose if the PCM is correctly adjusting the ignition timing.

I've got a Durango with a 4.7, BUT lately the engine had been sputtering at idle, esp. with the A/C on and in gear at stoplights and such, suspected the IAC was dirty, and it was, cleaning solved it! Ran across this thread on the homepage, definitely a good reminder to keep this area clean, as it really does matter.

Was it mentioned anywhere what size/type of screws are on that IAC? I didn't see that information when I quickly skimmed the thread. They either look like a square head or an Allen head.

It's a torx head screw, a T-20 I believe.

Cool, I happened to have that screwdriver laying around.

It had a good amount of rust on the tip that needed to be removed and there was a lot of carbon build up in the port. The van really didn't have an issue, but I figured I'd clean it up anyway. While I was there, I also noticed one of my valve cover gaskets was leaking, so I'll be doing both of those soon as well.

Just cleaned the IAC on my 98 B1500 V6. It was stalling on my wife when stopping and idling very rough. Mine was pretty gunked up as well as the port. It took some time to clean but was well worth it. My van is running like new!!!! Thanks to everyone who posted to this thread. Whenever I have any issues, this is the only site I come to.

Is there anyway to get a these pictures re-uploaded? Recently bought a 95 3500 van and it's having similar conditions to those discussed earlier in this thread. Hoping this fixes it, also planning on replacing the fuel pump since the gas gauge isn't functioning.
