Default Radio & Speakers in 07 Ram

Hi all,

I just purchased a '07 Ram 1500 "Big Horn" Edition over the weekend. So far I'm very happy with it. Goes great in the garage with my '06 Mustang GT. Anyway, the truck came with the lesser expensive radio that was standard. I preferred this one because of the Aux. jack for my IPOD. However, the sound is just ok. My question is this. Can just a swap of better speakers give a much better sound? Or, because of the radio, will I not get much better sound?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

I kept the factory unit but put in Polk Audio 6x9 in the front and Polk Audio 6 1/2" in the rear door and the sound great.

you could also add a small amp for your factory speakers that will usually make them sound quite a bit better and not at expensive or time consuming

Just to let you know...the 07 electrical system is working on a CAN C Bus and any aftermarket equiptment (such as wiring) adds different resistance and can cause serious problems with other electrical devices. Today I had to replace an instrument cluster to fix a windshield washer problem. A word to the wise....if you don't understand it....it's best left alone.

I have the 2006 Ram Mega Cab, and the only thing I thought that was lacking on the stereo was a bit of bass, so I added a powered 8" bazooka.....made all the difference in the world. I'm not looking for earth shattering bass as I use to some years ago, but better overall sound. I highly recommend this addition to everyone. I added a volume control in the center console that is dedicated to the sub, and it proved to be necessary. If anyone needs particulars on this project, let me know.
