Default Having problems with my 95 5.2

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what my problem is with my truck. </P>

I was going down the interstate on a long trip home and all of a sudden I had no power whatsoever. I had a top speed of maybe 10 MPH and when I stepped down on the gas I heard popping noises and it shook pretty bad. I somehow managed to get it to a gas station (I had below quarter tank at the time) and filled it up. About 5 minutes after I filled it up I had no problems up until I got just below a half a tank. So once again I filled the tank up and I had no problems until I got to just below a half. I figure this is a progressive problem I'm having that will leave me stranded if it's not fixed.</P>

It's been about 2000 miles since this problemfirst happened and has happened 4 times total. Everytime it has happened I figured that I had water in the tank and got a fresh tank of gas. But I know it's not the case anymore since 4 tanks of watery gas is unlikely. Also, everytime I have removed the gas cap there's been a hissing noise. Any ideas here as to what's going on? The truck seems to run just fine when it's not having this problem.</P><edited><editID>95RamOwner</editID><editDate>37993.647025463</editDate></edited>

The hissing noise is perfectly normal. Things to consider would be fuel pump or fuel filter.

Fuel pump is probably the problem. About a 350.00 fix for aftermarket or 600.00 for MOPAR parts. Neither is a cheap fix.

I'm taking my truck in on Jan 15th to get fixed. I'll keep you posted on what the problem was. I just wanted to have a clue as to what to tell the mechanic. Everyone I've talked to about this mentions the fuel filter, fuel pump or gas cap as potential problems so that's something to tell him. Thank you all for the help. I'll post a reply as to what the problem was.

Yep it was the fuel pump. Just got it fixed today. I was told that it was pumping at the lowest possible preasure that would keep it running barely. The pump andjust about everything was in what they called a module. Fuel filter and all got replacedwhen they swapped out the module. Total cost was $500.00.
