I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Off-Road 5.9L truck and want to get exhaust on it soon. Would you reccommend magnaflow or flowmaster? turndowns or tips? How many chambers? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Depending on whether you want an all-out roar or a nice, mean burble,
you may want to also consider a Borla cat-back system. I had one
on my '95 V-10 and it had a nice, authoritative rumble at idle. I
also picked up a handful more horsepower too, when coupled with a
K&N drop-in air filter.
I now have a 2004 5.7L HEMI and am waiting to see who comes out with a
cat-back system first: Flowmaster (50-series) or Borla. I've
heard a Flowmaster 50-series dual side-exhaust system on an '03 HEMI
and <span style="font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline;">that's</span> what it should've sounded like straight out of the factory! What a growl!

I have the same 1500. I have the Flowmaster system on it. Dual out the sides. It sounds awsome. It is not too loud but when you get on the gas people will know you are there! Power increase is noticable after 3,000 RPM. Best of all with the stock exhaust at about 2,100 RPM cruising on the highway, I would get weird loud exhaust tone it was kinda anoying. Anybody else notice this? Well the noise is no longer there with new exhaust.

I have a '99 2500 4X4/5.9 with Flowmaster 50 series with duals exiting in stock location on the right and mirror image on the left. It looks like it came from the factory that way, no chrome tips just the factory angle cuttail pipe ends.<IMG src=smileys/smiley20.gif border="0">

I Had 40 series flowmasters chrome tips turned out behind the rear wheels ! on my 03 and it was a deep rumble and when you got on it? everyone knows you were there! Even the neighbors know when im home and leaving and thats under idle!!! Not to mention my other two next door neighbors (dodge owners also ) they have 40 and 50 series too....hehehehe! Only problem was everyone wanted a peice of me in that 4.7 ........that was 5 months ago.....i just traded it in on the 04 hemi.! This time im a little hesitant on them 40's , maybe the 50's series this time? i really want more info on the HP. I want more , moreis better right?I was told two different theories about back pressure in the mufflers dont know which is true !!!!!! more baffles is more torque at the bottom end less at the top? less baffles more torque at the bottom end less at the top....IM SOOOOO CONFUSED!.....

I visited the Borla site and it was down. I was unable to send them an email. I am waiting to see who besides Gibson comes up with a side exit in front of the rear wheel.

I was wondering if I would be able to chuck the pipe for the crossover exhaust so I could run a straight pipe and make dual exhaust on my 98 grand caravan 3.3l ?

I have a 2002 Ram 1500 with the 5.9L. I am in the process of researching the best options now as well. I know Flowmaster from previous experience and they have a good rep on the market. However, Magnaflow is really coming on strong in the truck division and I am leaning towards their product...they have a sound clip on their website of an 02 like mine and it sounds sweet! Truck TV also did an install using the same products on an 02. I don't suppose a cat back system is really all that necessary considering 2.5" pipes are standard on the 5.9L. Any thoughts?
