Default 04 RAM 1500 & 2500 RECALL

On certain pickup trucks, the transfer case to transmission attaching fasteners may not be tightened correctly. This could cause the transmission adapter or transfer case housing to crack and leak fluid

Consequence; Continued operation can result in propeller shaft separation and damage to fuel system componets.Fluid or fuel leakage in the presence(http://www.safetyalerts.com/recall/a/02/v00904.htm) of an ignition source can cause an underbody fire.

This only affects 4x4 units built at the St. Louis Plant on November 4, 5, and 6, 2003. There are only 514 units affected. My '04 Hemi 4x4 was built in St. Louis starting on November 4, and completed on November 5. However, my truck is not part of the recall, so not all units built during this period are involved.

This is true only 514 units are effected. However,I checked to see if I was one of them andI wasn't. However, some people have the 514 and need to know about it. Better to check than to be sorry and I'm glad it doesn't apply to you or me. However, some won't be so lucky !

It's not inportant. Just find out if yourtruck is one of the 514 that is effected by calling the 1-800 # on the links to the page that we gave you. It took me about 5 min to find out.

My Dealer had that information, and when I went in for my first service, the date is listed on the service ticket. The dealer keeps track of the MFR date for this very reason. There are some dealers that do not keep track of this information. When we bought our truck, we got a tour of the service area, and met the 2002-04 Ram specialist technician. There is one guy who takes care of all the Rams at my Dodge dealer.
