Default Much Better Performance in RAM 1500

Added a 2" MOTOVATOR Throttle Spacer and AIR RAID Cold Air Intake to my 5.7 HEMI RAM 1500 a few months ago and 6,000 miles later...still awesome...better gas mileage (but wasn't a concern of mine), better horsepower, much faster response and ***** out performance. Next up is Exhaust system which should finish up the assembly...then I will rest until upgrading to the 2007 RAM

Detailing update :

Grab a bottle of DIAMONDITE Speed Clay to get off all those little bumps and road contamination in your car paint....so much easier to use then clay bars and after use, polish, wax and you will be STUNNED by the deepness, radiance and shear luminescent water pool look on your RAM.

Stay RAM proud and keep it looking proud...they rule...no better...PERIOD.

Which exhaust are you going with? If you are going custom, would you mind taking some snap shots and posting them along with the shop's info. I haven't found a shop yet that does decent work at a decent price using stainless. I was about to order the Borla, but haven't heard anyone's opinions of it. I also have the same intake but don't have the throttle spacer. Did the spacer make a difference or did you add it all at the same time?

Thanks in advance for your help, Mike.

Were are you located because I got a custom exhuast put on my with Flows 40 series and stainless pipes and tips. Great price, and awsome work. I don't have any pic right now but if you would like some just tell me. Oh the name of the shop is Franklin Muffler shop in Franklin County, Virginia. Don't have the number but can get it if you want that too.

I'm in Los Angeles County right around where Mike is. I might just order the Borla and call it done.

Hi all -

I added the 2" Throttle Spacer which in fact did add 10 HP and Motovator was my choice because it eliminated the hissing noise that was heard by K & N or Air Raids Throttle Spacers.

Actually, my Air Raid Cold Air Intake kit suggested I use a Throttle Spacer before installing the Cold Air Intake simply so it would fit better...but it does build on improving performance.

On the exhaust side of things, I have researched them all and it seems Gibson will serve fine for my purposes..figure roughly around $300 bucks ... I have met many people in the area who have had larger exhausts put on and even Flowmaster "copies" and it costs them just $40 bucks total, but I just don't feel right about that...their trucks sound great, but I don't trust the length of quality on that.

I guarantee to post some pics when I do it.

Thanks Mike. Are you going with double or single exit?

THis is just my 2 cents on the matter. Like I wrote in my other post I have a 40 series flowmaster with duals coming out the back and it is great. But I am VERY VERY picky when it comes to exhaust. If I were either of you I would take it to a custom shop (Hot Rod shop etc.) and get them to put it on just the way you want it. It will end up costing you the same amout as buying a Gibson off the internet. Again this is just my 2 cents and my opinions might not help either of you in any way, but there it is. Have a great day.

I do my own work, I just don't have a bender. So I want to hear/see the kits as opposed to custom welded things. I'm super picky as well...sort of **** sometimes and I want to do this once and do it right.

Question, why would a spacer do anything on a fuel injected motor, for a carb engine I can understand this, I am scratching my head here!!

It's possible that it would add power by smoothing out the flow of air, but I have a feeling that most of the seat-of-the-pants gains are purely mental - meaning people want to believe there's a gain because they spent money and time to put it in. I seriously doubt it would add 10 hp ever.
