Bigger Tires for 2500

I have heard quiet a few guys and/or gals putting on 315/70R17 with no rubbing on 1500's. I would assume (and we ll know what happens when we do that) that with the higher suspension they should fit fine. Also being a 2500 you have the luck of having a solid axle and the A-arm issue rubbing in nil. The companies are starting to put out 20" off-road tires since the popularity of the Dodge 20" rims. If you give me the tire size you have now i have a lil spreadsheet that calcs the overall height. And then you can go from there.

Actually let me clarify what you have.
Your wheels (rims) are 17x8
Your tires are 265/70R17, about 31" tall.
I have read that 315/70R17 will fit fine on the 2500 4x4's.
Keep in mind that some shops might give you a hard time about changing tires since the 2500 comes with Load rating E tires. I believe BFG makes an AT tire in the size 315/70R17's with an E load rating.
My 2500 4x4 CTD came with Michilin(sp) on-off road tires. Not the best off road, but I've heard reports they last 70k+ miles. I'll be keeping them for a while because it's nice to drive a stock truck some times (I have 2 lifted/modified vehciles that I tow with my Ram).
Good Luck,
Sam

Those are the same as I have on mine. They are 31.61" tall.
The 20" tires that come optional are 275/60/20 and they are 32.99"
The 315/70/17 are 34.36"
Here is the formula ((((width*(ratio/100)/25.4)*2)+rim))
((((275*(70/100)/25.4)*2)+17))
