Who makes the best cold air induction kit for a 04 ram?

Just a note: More air flow IN won't do a whole lot of good unless you change your exhaust to allow for more air flow OUT. The human body is a good example....[sm=smiley12.gif]

If you've ever eaten a bowl of hot Texas chili with a lot of beans, you'll find out where your REAL exhaust is....[sm=smiley36.gif][sm=smiley36.gif][sm=smiley36.gif]
Installed the K&N FIPK KIT on my 2001 Ram 5.9. The power gain is noticable........especially at higher speeds 60mph plus. My gas MPG is about 1.5- 2.0 mpg BETTER than it was (11.5-12.00 avg and now 13-14 mpg) and that is the best part. Of course that is driving it nice. Overall well worth the $$. At $3.50 /gallon (Canada) and driving 400 miles per week.........I figure the gas savings will pay for the kit in about 6 months.
On the 03 hemi's the cat back system is good for only a few ponies. For those believing there is going to be significnat gains I think you should do some research. My findings indicate the gains are in the 3-5 hp range at WOT. There is local speed shop with an excellent reputation that took an 03 put a few different systems on. Again, they are in the business to make money and flat told me to bag the idea and install CAI and leave it alone. The 04's are different in this regard due to the changes in the exhaust. They say it is worth it to change the system.
The theory that a CAI will only be effective if the exhaust is changed is bunk. Not all systems are created equal. In the old days the cats were very restrictive. Today almost all cats are a honey comb design and flow very well for stock applications. If you have a poor air intake design such as the Dodge then you can see improvement in the flow with an aftermarket system. The 97-03 fords had an excellent intake design but a restrictive muffler. So in this case the opposite is true, a simple filter change and free flowing exhaust made a difference. I tried the intake kit on the ford and lost power.
Anyway this is from the WHAT IT IS WORTH department.

I think the biggest problem is there is not a company that is out there solely to test...we must listen to people who either are being paid by the company that makes the mod....or we are being sold on the idea by someone who has used the product, who in some cases are either seeing a change viz psychologically or are negative or are truely seeing a change....the hard part is trying to figure out WHO is right....the thought of spending a ton of cash is very nerve racking to me beings a single father....money is wayyyyyyyy tooo valuable to me.....so to speak...
