Default The Lady In Red is all better...

The Lady In Red burned up one of her header gaskets over the weekend. The tick from the number two cylinder was driving me nuts. Tonight, she's all better and I'm onto my next mod... hopefully... gotta save for other things now too... but still need to make her go faster... [sm=smiley15.gif]

Isnt there a coating that can reduce heat and stress.

They are chrome ceramic coated... they are supposed to be hot... it's a common thing and an easy fix.

There is a spray on copper coating you treat the gaskets with prior to installing the headers. It works well. I've had the same same gaskets on my Coronet for 8 years and never had a problem, even with el-cheapo headers. It doesn't have to be a problem with headers.

Yea, but I also heard it can be damaging... and I'd rather be safe and replace gaskets then spray and then pay.

My headers aren't cheap... they are Edlebrock, how can you think yours are cheap? The gasket I burned up was theirs... I put a Mopar Performance Gasket on now... we'll see how it holds up. Seems MUCH MUCH MUCH better to begin with though.

[sm=lol.gif] My headers were cheap. $100, Hedman, painted headers. Cheapest things I could find at the time.

What have you heard about the copper coating? We've always had ggod luck with it.

Wow... mine were no where that cheap... LOL!

I heard it can make the gasket stick to the headers or the block, making for a hard time to change it. I think I've also heard a story of the coating eating the gasket altogether.... but to each his own and if you like it, more power to ya. [sm=smiley20.gif]
