Default Exhaust - Back Pressure Requirements

Does anyone know if a catalytic converter alone (i.e. no muffler) will provide enough back pressure for my engine to run properly? (5.2L)

I run only my cat on my 5.9L 2001 and it runs fine, I got so much more power by getting rid of the muffler.

the Police don't give you a hard time about the noise or is their no noise ordinance in you city/town. The police around Atlanta would eat us alive.
