Hi all, this may have been answered already in another section, but I am curious and need more input:
I purchased my Ram 1500 Hemi 2004 on March 25, 2004. Since I've had the truck I have been burning 89 octane as in my ex-Ford F-150. I live in Southern California and the price of fuel is out of control. On my last two refills I filled the truck w/87. To my surprise it appears the the truck seems to be loose (faster) and the annoying, so called Hemi noise the dealer said was normal, seems to have dissapated. I figured since I have a 70,000 mile or 7 year warranty on this baby if anything should happen it will happen during this period. I belong to another Dodge board and the concensus is that there is nothing wrong with using 87 Octane. What is your jist on this?![Smile](https://dodgeforum.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Take a look in the owner's manual for the minimum fuel rating. Around here in the omaha area, the 89 is cheaper than 87. I guess the cornhusker state is good for something. And even better IOWA is next door and they sell their gas, as of 4/17, $.14 cheaper, 87 for $1.65.

Ramit,
I read that in the manual also. I took a consensus on another board and some individuals swear by 87 octane.
Question: Why is 89 octane cheaper in Omaha then 87 octane? I don't get it.![EEK!](https://dodgeforum.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif)

The 89 octane might be surplus winter formula gasoline that they're trying to get rid of before it gets any warmer...
