Brake Pads Causing Squeak
I am hearing a squeak while driving and the squeaking stops when I press on the brakes. Does that mean that my brake pads are getting worn?
I took it into a local auto shop and had them do a brake check...they said there weren't any problems. So, now I'm at a loss for what might be causing the squeaking noise.
Any thoughts?

From what I'm told there are a few possibilities. Standard american rotors are made without any nickle in them so they rust real quick around moisture. That buildup could cause squeaking (or grinding if it gets bad) sounds. Break dust could be a cause... I dunno where it comes from (could be anywhere i guess). Lastly, new break pads can do it to, but it sounds like you've had these for a while.
I had the same problem on a previous car of mine. My uncle (who is a mechanic) put some stuff on the break pads to make it quick squeaking.

I am having the same problem. For me it just comes from the right front wheel. Everywhere I take it thinks that I am crazy because they can't hear it. If you fix the problem, please pass on the info. Thanx.
