Default infinity system

does this system sound good? Does it come with a sub? I've noticed that it has 7 speakers. How come theres an odd one in there. If it doesnt have a sub can you add an amp and a sub to it with out harming anything?

It already has an amp behind the glovebox and there is no sub.
If you're gonna spend the extra dough on it, leave it alone. It sounds fine.

The system has a seperate amp for the front door speakers and they put out the bass! I love the controls on the steering wheel.

Over all the sound isn't bad for a factory system and will be fine for many people. I'm a bit of picky and I problably will change the system or parts of the system at some point. The system sounds good for some types of music but the low end is very muddy and sometimes the doors vibrate a little with loud volume (even with the bass set to 0). I think the rear speakers are very cheap and I'm dissapointed there. If I had it to do over I would have invested the $600 (or whatever the added charge was) into an aftermarket system.

But listen for yourself it is very adequate compared to other stock systems.

I think it sounds real good. Meurich, the vibration you heard might be due to the plastic liner on the inside of the door. I went to the dealer and had them check the rattle in the door, it end up just being this plastic lining around the speaker so we cut it out and there is no rattle anymore. I can turn up the bass all the way and still not get any rattle now. Make sure you only cut out the half that is on the speaker side and leave the half that covers the huge holes. Use the pieces of black sticky stuff on the edge that you cut to still have a good seal. The door is real easy to get off too, you take out the two screws on the bottom, the screw by the mirror and the screw by the handle. You have to also remove the handle with the torx bolt behind the handle. Then you just pick the door pannel upwards and it comes right off. No more plastic clip rivet things.

I have the infinity 6 speaker system in my '02. In the pics of the SRT-10 i have seen the Inifinity "Basslink" servo-controlled sub. It is a 200w powered sub/passive radiator syste, http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='BASSLINK'&Ser=BSL&Cat=PSU. The infinity site says MSRP is $499. I have seen them on ebay for about $225. I went the amp and sub route because i had them laying around. One thing involved is that the "speaker" leads coming out of the head unit are actually "low level", basically normal looking RCA. They go to the amp behind the glove box. Then from there it goes to all the speakers. I used a line-level converter, tapping off the leads of the rear speakers into a Kicker mono amp pushing a 10" MTX(remember I just had this extra stuff laying around). It sounds pretty good, I just need a converter with a lil more juice(when cheapo). The basic infinity system has a pretty good sound all around, but for the boom boom you will need to add a sub(s).
