Default We have a leak.

I have a slight problem going with my 98 ram 1500 5.9L. There happens to be a leak under the car. I know its not engine or tranny, I don't know how to explain this but, when you look under the car, you will notice the steering column goes to a box or tube and then a stud comes out of the bottom and is connected to a bar that steers the car, the bar goes to the passanger side tire and latches under there. The stud that comes out of that box I am talking about is dripping oil, or some sort of lubricant. I was thinking that maybe this is power steering fluid but I am not sure about it. I can't take a picture becuase I don't have my digital cam right now. But I have found a car online that shows the same thing, This truck is lifted but the red arrow points to the extact thing on my truck. At the bottom of that stud their is some kind of brownish oil leaking.

Pitman Arm Seal. That is the Pitman Arm that bolts to the Gearbox, I think this is a pretty common thing, when I had my 1999 Ram, I had the same problem.

Warranty? I highly doubt it. With it being a lifted truck, I see no way you'll get it covered. It's not that had to do, I think you may have to have some sort of special tool to be able to do it.

Would I just have to go to the dealer or machanic to fix it or what is it. Do I just have to replace a seal on it? Probably not too much right?

Any mechanic should be able to fix it, and probably cheaper. It shouldn't cost that much, all you have to replace is the seal.

Ok, ya what is it leaking, Power steering fluid or what is it? I just don't want to go driving and have something happen.
