Regular cab fits in my garage, & the Quad doesn't.

you can fit more speakers in a 3rd Gen regular cab than a quad cab unless you take out the back seat

I know a guy with a rc with 4 12's, the biggest I could fit EVER is 2 12's and they'd be firing into the seat

you could fit 4 12's and a helluva lot of mids/highs behind the seat of a rc than under the backseat of a qc because of those damned cargo/storage bin things built into the floor of the cab

i'll probably go with which ever dealer offers me a better purchase price/financing. however, i am leaning on the reg cab because it's got fewer miles on it and i'd like the small savings in gas due to not weighing as much. for the reg cab owners, what luggage can you fit in the back? for example, groceries, sporting gear, large bags, etc. i'm single and only 5'8", so extra room is not a requirement but i certainly appreciate the space for comfort. if i get the quad my friends will probably ask me for rides all the time which isn't something i want to agree to, heh. yet i take often trips to the mountain for snowboarding with my friends, and it's good to car pool, besides none of them have 4x4s. this is a tough decision, i guess i'll make up my mind at the very last minute after test driving both.

the benifits of qc is obvious, but for those of you who say NO to qc, could you go into detail on why you insist on reg cab?

I've had a regular cab short bed '97 4x4 with a 5.2 in it and I now have a '98 quad cab short bed 4x4 with a 5.9 in it. I can say that the only change in mileage I noticed was because of the larger engine. If both have 5.2's, you MIGHT get an extra mpg or two from the reg cab. The space behind the seat in the reg cab is enough for a few tools and a couple jackets, that's about it. maybe a gym bag or something. I'll never regret getting the quad cab. Yes, I can haul more people, but I rarely do. People don't like sitting in the back of extended cab trucks, even though it's not too bad back there. I get more use out of the back seat for having a secure, dry place to carry things while traveling, or coming back from the store. I would go with the quad cab if I were you, especially if they're the same price or if it's just a tad more. I don't think 10000 miles if that big a of a difference, maybe you canuse that as ammo to get them to lower the price on the quad cab.

i prefer the looks of the quad. you can always bolt on some more ponies to make up for the extra weight.

I prefer my Regular cab, but the Quad does come in handy for moving people, groceries, whatever... but I'd never get rid of my Regular cab due to lack of room. I've stuffed a full house full of groceries in the Regular cab before, several times... you make do with what you have... LOL!

My Regular cab has a 5.9 and is my baby doll, the Quad has a 5.2 and is a 4x4, and just doesn't satisfy my need for speed like The Lady In Red does... but, like I said, it is handy when what I need to move won't fit in the reg cab.

i didnt buy my truck for a speed fix, although I seem to be getting the bug to make it go faster. Even when I put my foor down now the suspension just freaks me out, maybe once its lowered it might be a bit more controllerable, until then i'll stick to speed limit in it.

my bike does 0-60 in 3 seconds. thats where i get my speed fix

The red 1994 5.9 Regular cab (The Lady In Red) is a fast truck, terrific ride quality, super throttle response... I'm totally biased, I adore my truck. I prefer her ride anyway over anything... but I'm all for speed.

The blue 4x4 1999 5.2L QC (Mr. Blue at Truckville) is not meant to go as fast, although it's got great pick up and go for the truck of it's size. The throttle response improved ten fold when we installed the Fastman Throttle Body on it. Anyway, it's got an aftermarket exhaust and that also helped, but it's not as fast, obviously... it's a 4x4. It's comfortable, ride quality is awesome... does come in handy when I need to move things.

Personally, if I was in the position you are... what truck LOOKS better...? I prefer the Regular cab's look over the extended or QC. And I'll live with my choice and make do with the space I have. I have a 3 and a half year old son, and I've never not been able to do something or move something due to lack of space.

I have the "luxury" of taking the QC when I need to go grocery shopping because it's in my driveway, but when I didn't have it, the regular cab worked just fine. I made do and it never hurt anything. LOL!

Since they are both 5.2L 4x4's, that does make the choice easier... you aren't picking between engines... look at the tires, are they bald, did someone "beat" on the truck before you got it? Does the clutch feel spongy... which has the better color?

My pick... Regular Cab with less miles...

Really the choice is about YOU, and not thye truck at all. How many people do you carry? Are you married? Planning kids? No Kids? Dog?

It's about what the truck has to do. Single guy with GF and a doggie and the Regular cab fills my needs quite well. I also would not be getting 22 MPG with a QC.
