I just got back from a joy ride in my new truck and I played with the OD lockout button which I played with the other day. This time I notice my RPM drop even lower as if i had locked myself out of 5th the previous time playing with the button. Does anyone know if that OD button has that fuction of locking out either OD4 or OD5. TIA

 

Im not 100% sure, but i know the OD lockout, on hte end of the gear shifter, stops the tranny from going into the 5th gear. But its normally resets everytime the truck is shut off.

 

If it did, it would say so in the owners manual.

 

I just counted the shifts today. The instance I noticed must have been the trany just didn't downshift yet. I guess I just have to get use to a new truck and not compare it to my 97. Its just that
I really like my 97.

 

on my 04, the OD button locks you out of 5th gear, but it also raises the shift point for the other gears to a slightly higher rpm. I'd say to give you more torque for towing...
