Im going to silver lake soon, mid-late july and again in june...COM ON Silver Lake 2004! truck races, quad races, jet skiing, sand boarding, quad/dirtbike/truck jumping, etc...

there is even hotels up there for all you non-campers.

billyd12, count me in dude-o. I've already been up there once this year
and would love to go again.

Silver Lake State Park is located near the towns of Hart and Mears, MI.
Approximately 1/2 hour north of Muskegon. (and conveniently 1/2 south of Ludington)

the DNR has a web page wit all the rules and regs for going on the dunes.
any one interested should look them over.

http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7...4760--,00.html

If any one is intereste in going but dosn't was to take thier ride up on the sand, let me know....Ive got plenty of room for passengers in my Quad-Cab.

How about one of these weekends:
July 10th
July 17th
July 24th

We could leave on a Friday afternoon or evening, from a convenient meeting place like Greatlakes Crossing (at least for the east-siders it’s convenient). Make the 3 1/2 hour drive to the dunes, make camp, get our vouchers for Saturday and start the party before the sun goes down.

Then in the morning we all head to the dunes to play in the sand like we did when we were kids in the sandbox at school. Only this time it would be with real trucks

When the park closes at dusk, head back to camp party some more. Then make the trip back on Sunday.

I think it would be awesome to see a convoy of vehicles from DF heading across state for some fun. Highway gas mileage isn't that bad either, last time I went I got 17.3 mpg on the way up and back (cruise set at 70). While on the dunes it dropped down to 7 (only cause' I was ***** deep in the accelerator the whole 7 hours I was there).

But seriously... any one interested in going will need a few things.

must have if you plan to take your ride on the dunes
1. Michigan State Park Sticker $24.25
2. Michigan ORV Sticker $16.00
3. Flag for your front bumper $20 to $30

optional recomended equipment
4. camping gear if your not staying in a hotel
5. FRS radio or a CB, usefull but not nessacary
6. At least 1 20 foot tow strap with-out metal hooks
7. Valve stem remover and tire preasure guage (for airing tires down and up)

Even if you don't want to take your vehicle on the dunes it will still be a blast.
And if we get enough people to go there should be plenty of room to jump in another persons.

Besides the best thing about silverlake sand dunes is that there is hardly any trees to hit or scratch your paint on, its 97% sand.

Gotta love the fact that the DNR use lifted and modified Rams.
