i put an KN air filter on mine and got 18.3 to the gallon with a 360 and i town is about the same, 13.7. Yes you read that right (thank you mopar trip computer). Thats not hammering on it, but just cruising along a little above the speed limit. It has stayed that way for 5000 miles.

Define burning through gas, like 8 to the gallon?<edited><editID>thepickler</editID><editDate>37958.3876041667</editDate></edited>

I tend to get about 250 miles to a tank... Which is normally a 20
gallon fillup... =( so just over 12.5mpg. Best I've
ever gotten with my Ram is 17mpg on a trip on the highway with the bed
full of parts (carrying some car parts for a buddy and had a boxed hood
laying on top of everything, making the bed flat). Trip home
without the stuff yielded a 15mpg feast.

Six or eight months ago, I owned a 2000 Ford F-150 XLT. My average mileage was 15.1 MPG. At that time I heard that Dodge was putting the Hemi in the half-Ton. Thats when I decided to go shopping. I went too three local Dodge dealers in my area. Besides looking for price, I wanted some questions answered. Primarily, GAS MILEAGE!!!!! The answer seemed to be too good to be true. It was like they were reading from a script. All three dealers asked what motor I had in the Ford, and what my mileage was. I told them all the same thing and every one of them told me that "I should expect a 20% increase over that figure with the DODGE HEMI" I was sold. After three months of between 11 and 13 MPG, I went back to the dealer that I purchased from to complain. Answer, Break-in period. It is now 6 months and 6000 miles. My mileage is a whopping 13.2MPG. Back to the dealer we go on Wednesday the 17th. I spoke to the dealer again. This time I was told that Chrysler had told them to use the 20% figure and that they were getting a lot of complaints of the same kind. Well, that doesn't make me feel any better, just knowing that other people are getting bad mileage doesn't help me a bit! My question is, besides dumping "THE HEMI" can anything be done? By the dealers estimate, I should be doing 18.1 MPG. My wife laughed and said it isn't that you can't afford the truck, You just can't afford to drive it.

I'm with 5.9rm here..... I don't want to step on anybody's toes, but jeez guys! You own afull-size, badass Dodgepickemup Truck....Do a couple of miles per gallon mean that much? If so, maybe you need a Prius, ora Civic, as a second vehicle.</P>

Just a thought..... Again, no intent to offend, but these are TRUCKS we're talkin' about, and they drink gas. Mine is stock, and averaged 14.7 recently on a 150 mile round trip over a mountain pass (3000 feet)..... No complaintsfrom me. <IMG src=smileys/smiley5.gif border="0"></P>

Its not the mileage i'm complaining about so much as it is the factthat they out and out lied too me about what I should expect as far as the mileage is concerned.
