Hey Mike, just to let you know if your CAI funne lis made of chrome that you bought a $40.00 piece of metal. Reason being is chrome heats up very fast so you can change the name from Cold Air intake to Hot Air Intake. Do your research and ask what the tubes are made of. If they are heat resistent or even insulated that is a good thing. The colder the air the better the results. I hope that helps.

Man reading that was like watching the special olympics. A pie is a pipe is a pipe. Almost all CAI's have the same pipe shape, size and what not. It's not the pipe that matters anything is less restrictive than the factory pipe. It's the filter you put at the end of it. Thats what matters, plus I highly doubt anybody can feel a 2-5Hp gain through their butt. Get real.

I certainly hope that wasn't meant to be a cut on me, I was just interested in where he bought it and at what price, with the pic he posted I liked the look of it. I am well aware that a pipe is a pipe is a pipe ( as I am sure you meant) Being in the Air Force myself I liked the graphic that was on the said pipe.

The thing that gets me about these CAI's is that they are not pulling cold air. I don't see how that could help much. The firlter is probably the biggest part of a true CAI, but the smooth interior pipe will flow better to a certain degree.

ive seen one on ebay for the hemi rams that does go all the way down behidn the front bumper, which would lead me to believe they do bring in cold air. and they are still fairly cheap, 75 maybe?

I've always wondered what, if any, the affect would be when you extand the piping that far. Does it cause a lag due to increased volume, or what it does to the velocity of the incoming air.

well, judging from the one i have, and the increased sound from the opening, it has to be higher velocity. you can hear it sucking in the air, both at idle, and at high rpm. i know alot of companies have dyno results available upon request, but i often wonder if the increase may just be from the the fact that youre taking in cool air and has nothing to do with the smoother flow, or vise versa.

The sucking sound is mostly because there is no baffling effect with the CAI's and not the increase in flow.
