Oh BTW,
That is somewhat correct, I'll explain, first number is tire width in millimeters, next number is the percentage of the tire width (1st number), now that equals tire sidewall height, and the final number is wheel diameter.
So anytime you increase either number you will gain some sidewall. So right now you have 185.5 mm of sidewall height, 70% of 265mm. Hope this helps.
I know these 17's are 265 / 70 / 17 ... Raising the 265 makes a larger side wall.. Correct???

Learning something new and different every day on DF.... lol....
thanks for explaining that bulldog...
and yes those trax would be nice up here for the winters....
The main problem that I am encountering is that i live in the only real "City" in Alaska. Anchorage. So it is a city truck with very little dirt time.
I think i will go with a Mud and snow tire for the winter months and just go buy a cheaper set of big rubber for the summer later on this year... maybe even go buy some 20's or 22's down the line.
btw what is the largest Wheel you can get under these '02 1500's ????

If you ever spend any time driving in rain, I'd for sure pick the Dueler AT Revos.
I've run BFG Mud Terrains quite a bit, and they are spooky on a pickup in very wet conditions on pavement.
The Revos are on my '04 right now, and I couldn't be happier.
Check the reviews at tirerack.com
That's what convinced me, and I haven't looked back. I've never seen so many people in agreement about anything!
On the size, if you're running 245/70R17 now, the 265/70R17 will look WAY better, and the brakes won't be as touchy, but don't forget to have the nice folks at the dealership reset your computer so your speedo is correct.
HTH,
Dave
