03 hemi gas mileage
Has anyone found a way to get better than 6-8 mpg out of a 2500 Ram. I haven't done a thing yet and was hoping buy now somebody did something that worked. Didn't expect great mileage but believe the numbers could be improved!
That does sound nasty. I have 2004 1500 4X4 with the HEMI, my worst is 13.2 and my best is 15.4. I only have 2700 miles on it, they (whoever) say it will get better after about 4000 miles, the computer does a re-calibrate around that time. I have 3.92 gears and 20" wheels.

Single digit gas mileage from any HEMI solo (ie. not towing) isn't
right. I drive like a maniac and get 13 MPH on my '04 1500 w/20"
wheels. As with Dave Dye, mine has only 800 miles on it and I
expect it to improve after break-in, a K&N filter install and a
fiberglass tonneau cover.
I'm thinking your air/fuel mixture is messed up, or you're air filter
is still wrapped in the plastic bag it came in. You could also
have severe drivetrain friction. Does it coast OK on a flat road?

Just picked up my new '04 1500 4x4 reg cab with Hemi. Drove it to Houston from Denver after visiting Rocky Mtn Natl Park (great way to put some miles on for break-in while enjoying some really cool scenery!). Now have 1200 miles on it - averaged 14-15 mpg in all kinds of conditions. Motor was kinda sluggish at altitude but woke up when it got to breath some real air. Even with massive cross winds coming through Colorado, I was able to get 14-15 mpg. Anxious to see what this looks like after a couple more thousand miles.

Anyone have any real experience with the aftermarket air intakes on a Hemi yet?

My 03' Hemi is getting about 12.5 mpg, if I keep my foot out of it, which is very hard to do.

I got an 04 1500 hemi with 20's. First 2k miles I got an 11.2. After
trip reset and the next 800 miles or so I'm up to 12.4. After 4k I plan
to reset the trip odometer, see if it gets better.

Thanks for all the info guys! From what I have heard bad gas mileage seems to be a trade off with the truck. If anyone finds something that works to improve themileage without voiding the warranty let me know!
