Default Mitsi to Dodge Conversion

OK guys this might sound weird but i am considering buying a Mitsi 3000GT or GTO but i want to know if its possible to cosmetically swap a Mitsi to a Stealth.... As i am in Australia and have never seen a Stealth in the metal only online pics, so it makes it a bit hard to note all the differences.. i am planning on buying a Turbo Manual but im not sure of year as they are very rare cars here and still command top dollar. Im still not 100% sure such a conversion is possible but im guessing the main parts of the cars are carbon copies.

Im weighing up the options as it will be far cheaper to buy all the parts required and ship them here (Australia) than it would be to import a complete Stealth and Convert it from LHD to RHD.

If anyone has had enough contact with both of these cars that they could write me a quick list so i can start chasing prices for all the parts needed it would be appriciated. I know it seems extreme but id rather push a Dodge than drive a Mitsi.

Im also considering a swapping a Mitsi Starion to a Dodge ???

What other Mitsi to Dodge conversions would there be. im looking for something wierd to do

Ummm they're basically the exact same car except for the body parts....that includes the motors....so no matter which you buy....its still gonna be a Mitsu powered car. The person you really want to speak with is thestealth, as he's the resident stealth guy....but honestly you are better off buying a stealth outright instead of mutilating a 3000GT...

Mate im in Australia,, we havent had a new dodge here since 1970 and that was a truck. We also drive on the wrong side of the road which means the steering wheels is on the Right hand side of the car. Changing this is LOTS of $$$. 3000GTs were built RHD for our market and Jap market. I know the motors are the same, all i want to change is anything that identifies it as a Mitsubishi, eg badges emblems in the steering wheel, i know trim panels and tail lights are different and this is the stuff i plan on changing.... i want the only thing on the car to say Mitsubuishi to be the compliance plate

Tail lights
Rear Garish
Rear Clip
Side Skirts
Lower Door Skirts
Front Clip
Headlight Cover (for the flip ups)
Steering Wheel
Front Turn Signals (hard to find)

There may also be some miscellaneous brackets you'd have to change over too, but I'm not too certain.

Get a hold of Kevin @ stealth/3000 salvage he may be able to get you the parts you need.

Seems "thestealth" posted all the parts for you but im with ya on the Dodge preference. I have a Stealth that has teh 3.0 sohc which i prefer to the more power of the dohc cause i dont like mitsu engines as much. I just dont trust them ever since i had a run-in with a 4 cylinder caravan a few years back. I love my 5 speed sohc and it has PLENTY of power for me to get in a whole lot of trouble with if i dont watch myself. ;D

The SOHC is still a Mitsu engine.

+1

I believe, in fact, that the 3.0L V6 that Dodge has been using for the better part of the last 15 yrs is a Mitsubishi motor. They just were built/setup differently with different cams/manifolds? I'm pretty sure I'm on the right trail, just not sure about the specifics. The same 3.0L V6 that's in my Stratus R/T is found in the Mitsu Eclipse and Galant...

A good history lesson on the 6g72 engine. Kinda long, but pretty informative.

Dont i feel like a dumbass.. but that was a REALLY good page of info about it...gave me some ideas for down the road if and when my wife starts making the big bucks lol. I would be more than happy with 250 hp in this thing cause the stock motor is pretty damned fast right now particularly since im used to driving 4 cylinders that you have to squeeze a bit more than this thing to get the power out of em.

Dont feel that way. It's an honest mistake, and not many people realize that the Dodge Stealth, Eagle Talon, Dodge Avenger, and Dodge Stratus Coupe were basically rebadged/slightly altered Mitsubishi Eclipses/3000GTs. We have a member on our board who has done a complete 95 Talon AWD swap into his Avenger...and the car still looks stock. You'll find that about 90% of the parts are compatiable in some regards. Shoot, my interior in my DODGE Stratus....is the exact same interior in the 3rd Gen Eclipse.....even down to the part numbers. If I were to open my car door, you'd see Mitsu stickers on the inside of the door frame...
