Default High idle. iac or something else? 3.0 v6

Since the iac is $425 at the dealer and $250 aftermarket, Im going to try the boneyard. What other cars have the 01-05 3.0 mistsubishi v6 besides the sebring coupe?
Thanks in advance.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. You should be able to find a used one much cheaper than that from a private seller online (from the average price I've seen)

Daughters car. Its got about 70k on it. Just put in new plugs. Took it to my friend at the dealer hand he hooked it up to the computer to get codes, but he could not guarantee(at $425 employee price)that it was in fact the IAC. So we will hit the boneyards today for one.

Got another iac from the boneyard. No improvement. Same high idle. Did a temp fix for now by putting a inch wide section of a can in the intake to cover the 2 holes with 2 sided tape on it. Then I put a small hole (about 30% of the one hole that was covered up in the aluminum). Now it idles about 900 rpm in park.

What does the iac push back and forth inside the plenium? Could my daughters boyfriend lost pieces out of there when he took off the plenium to change the plugs?

I forget the exact # but it was specifically that the iac was "inoperable" or "non functioning" or "bad". Only one code nothing else.

As far as I know, it doesn't actually "push" anything. It just moves in and out in steps, allowing more air to bypass the throttle plate (via the little holes in the throttle body before the valve) Have you tried cleaning the MAS? Pick up a bottle of MAS cleaner (don't use Carb or TB cleaner!) and see if that helps. Although be careful with it, as it's a fairly expensive part on this car when bought new. Do you know if the idle speed screw was changed? It's possible that someone increased it, beyond the level that the IAC can compensate for, to prevent the car from idling out. Also, have you cleaned the TB and idle passages?

Does the car idle high only when cold/hot? in drive/park? Desired idle is 700RPM+-50 to be in factory spec.
