Default Considering Stratus R/T purchase.

Hello!

I'm about to purchase a new '04 or '05 Dodge Stratus R/T. I currently have an '01 Olds Alero which I'm giving to my daughter.

I'm wondering about the reliability of the Stratus. I haven't had a Chrysler product in about 20 years, and frankly, I've never been overly-impressed with Chrysler quality.

Any known issues or beefs with this vehicle? Anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance!

i have a 2002 RT coupe...to be honest, while i take care of my car/it is kept maintained, i THRASH my car...i have since the day i got it, brand new. its been to several different kind of race courses, and has spent ALOT of time at the drag strip....i have done some minor modifications to it, but nothing major, and although i have beaten my car severely, i have never had a single issue..the only thing i have changed since i got it in june of 2002 are tires, and 2 sets of front brake pads.

I bought a 2004 Stratus R/T in December and I LOVE it. I've had Dodge/Chrysler products in the past and I've never had any problems. In fact, that last Chrysler product I owned was a New Yorker which I had almost 200,000 miles on. It was still running
great and the engine did not burn any oil - or leak, for that matter. So for me, I would take a Dodge or Chrysler any day!

Thanks!

Yep... I like it a lot. It's a little more cramped than I'd like, (I'm 6'2" and 45 years old) but that's pretty much the case with any sporty car.

The autostick is perfect for me. I've had several manuals in the past... and it's just too much work for me nowadays. [:-] The autostick is the perfect compromise.

it is much better than the older autosticks too. the older DCX Autosticks had an electronic over ride...if you hit the red line, it would shift for you...i know mine will not, and im pretty sure that yours wont either!

like i said, i have never had an issue with mine, and i run her pretty hard...although i did change my oil every thousand miles for Quite a while...it has tapered off lately to every 3 thousand miles since i dont work as a tech anymore...

but congrats on the new RT !!!

Default First car problem...

Well I decided to peel off the dealer sticker on the back of the car yesterday... I used the hair-dryer method... and I found out the sticker was covering up about four 1/4" scratches on the back of the trunk lid. [:@]

The dealer said they'd fix it. They told me they have a guy who comes out a couple days a week and fixes nicks & scratches on their cars.

I'd like to demand a new factory painted trunk lid... but I probably won't get far with that. I suppose I could check into the time frame I have for returning the car... but I'm not sure that'd fly either. I don't want the whole trunk lid sanded & repainted because it's never the same as the factory paint.

Any suggestions? Think they can do a spot-repair and have it look good?
