Default 2004 front suspension rattle

I bought my Strat last year from a dealer who bought it at a local auto auction. I traced it's history and learned it wass owned by the Maryland DNR. I callled them and they told me they have a contractor who provides regular, scheduled maintenance and they would sebd me all ther records if I gave them a tag number. then sold because the car was 5 years old so they buy new ones.

So I found it, loved it, bought it. About a week later I start hearing a clanging sound when I hit bumps and I'm not sure how serious it may be.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
SJ!

pretty hard for the internet to determine the level of severity based on your description...

when it comes to a noise like this, wouldn't it be best to have a professional hear this noise? since we can't hear it.

could be bad shock mounts, or bad ball joints or loose brake caliper or engine mount or a wrench that got left under the hood or.... but it really requires someone with vehicle knowledge to have a look at it to be sure. It would be horrific to minimal the problem then have a major catastrophe because it wasn't investigated by a knowledgeable professional personally inspecting

I have that same noise in my 05. I took every thing apart and still couldn't figure it out.

you mean EVERYTHING? upper lower control arms out of the car, bushings pulled from the arms, balljoints removed, shocks/struts out, springs removed, jounce/rebound tested? etc...

these cars have toe only adjustments, you can pull the aframes and the coil over shocks out and alignment isn't affected unless you start slotting bolt holes. (these cars technically don't have struts in the front. A strut replaces a suspension member to support the spindle. since there is upper and lower control arms you'd have a shock. and since the spring is around the shock you have coil over shocks. and a bad shock can cause a rattle.

your right you are not a machanic. because there is no such word!.

wth are you talking about, I'm GIVING you a CLUE wth could be wrong. I suppose you are expecting/demanding someone drop everything and run to your rescue to fix your problem. I told you the rattle can come from suspension components and the shocks. when you said "I took every thing apart and still couldn't figure it out. " I wanted clarification so I didn't tell you to do something you already verified that was ok.

oh and fixing cars is called a MECHANIC
