Add me to the list of those that have this issue too! Warmer air will blow out except in either of the defrost positions which is fine for a while until the windows fog up. Also I swear when I make a left hand turn, I get a little blast of warm air! The service guy wants to replace my heater core which will cost over $1,000 since they need to take everything apart to even get to it. I was hoping not to have to do that.

Mater tech I'll show my boyfriend what you suggested.
Thanks!

Here is the most likley problem with this heatin issue, after i replaced all those same parts i took my car to a speciality shop that deals in heat and coolin and they said the heater core baffle was probaly rotted away and the little tubes were blocked also so the have a special tool they force high pressure air and water to blow out the heater core, even though i thought i flushed the heater core out but with the high pressure it worked 95.00 fixed !!!!!!!!!!!

Default heating issues

had the same problem with my 2001 stratus 3.0 after going through all you've been through I removed heater hoses and flushed the direction of
flow and it flowed fine so I flushed the other direction and no flow for a
moment then blast of crap out end of tube, reconnected and OK now. go figure!!!!

Lots of good advice / options on your heating problem. As for the glove box thing, you may have a clogged filter. This can affect your heating as well. I can't be certain on the stratus, but there is a return air filter just behind the glove box on a lot of vehicles. Pull out the glove box and take a look. Sometimes you can clean them, sometimes you need to replace them.

As far as I know there is no cab filter.
I had that problem since I got my car last year, changed cap and thermostat, flushed core, checked doors etc. To adjust the doors u simply unclip 2 clips from each cable, slide the sleeve around and reclip it. If the sleeve isnt positioned right then your controls will only move so far in a certain direction so test the controls before putting everything back together.
Replacing my core was the last resort because its an all day job basically, but I ended up doing it because the core itself is relatively cheap. Once I removed it I took it apart to make sure that it WAS the actual problem and I saw that about 1/3 of the tubes were clogged with sludge and other debris that couldnt get flushed, looked like short wires and other solids.

secondly my position settings are off.. they are all correct except for the floor only setting,,, the floor setting is a mixture of air to the floor and the defrost at same time..
and third the air is only warm to cool ... it is not hot enough to heat the car when it is below 25 degrees or so.. and if i turn it to the defrost selection it is cold! no heat what so ever.. but once i turn it back off defrost it gets a lil warm again.. it is hotter if i am sitting still,, once moving it is like it has the outside air cooling it way off.. i have replced the radiator cap and the thermostat... didnt help. i replced the cap because the system was nopt holding any pressure what so ever thought i fixed it because it is now holding pressure in the coolant system but still no hot heat.
i also noticed this..
when i open the glove box there is a ton of suction from there,, it is actually pulling papers and stuff i hjave in the toward the back of the glove box? very weird..
any ideas what to do here? ohhh and by the way i took the radio out and the hot to cold air damper is working great opening and closing all the way.
I have a 99 stratus with the same problems as your 2000. Did you ever find out what the problem was?

Default Heater Problem

My 2000 stratus has no heat, Every thing is working properly. Some one told me to follow the heater core hoses to the motor and they should lead me to the heater control valve which is probably either plugged up or the vacum is not working. I see where the hoses go to but trying to work on getting it off is a real pain in the a@*. Has any one ever taken one off?
