Default I keep getting different answers. Please help.

Can someone please tell me where the CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR is located on a 2000 Dodge Stratus 2.4L? I've done a search and keep getting different answers like it's in front of the engine above the starter or above the oil filter or behind the harmonic balancer. I'm confused. Please help.

Welcome to DF
This is out of the dodge service manual for 2000 2.4L engine.
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR - 2.0/2.4 L
The crankshaft position sensor mounts to the engine block behind the generator, just above the oil filter Crankshaft Position Sensor - 2.0/2.4L

REMOVAL
Remove the negative battery cable.
Disconnect electrical connector from crankshaft position sensor.
Remove sensor mounting screw. Remove sensor.
INSTALLATION
Install sensor and tighten the screw.
Connect electrical connector to crankshaft position sensor.
Install the negative battery cable.

When you say behind the Generator, does the Generator have to come out? Is all of this done underneath the engine or can I do this from the top? Any pictures or a more detailed instructions would be appreciated.

Also did a search on Ask.com and it stated that it was located in back of the engine by the firewall. Now I'm really confused.
