This is a common problem when the battery has been disconnected. The throttle body loses its memory in the ECU. What you can do is clean the throttle body and throttle blade.

I would try to clean the throttle body. You did say the problem started after you replaced the starter. How does that mean you now need a distriburtor?

im not sure... thats just what they told me. i was told by someone else that it could also be the oxygen sensor. before i do anything drastic ill try cleaning the throttle body.

Is the check engine lite on? I'm just trying to figure out how the shop told you the dist was the problem. The shop didn't tell you there was any codes for the dist or maybe an o2 sensor.

well they did say there was a code for the o2 sensor. and the reason i "need" a new distributor is because the one i have in my car now is for a mitsubishi. they say i need one made by dodge. i dont know much about cars but i thought that most of the car was made by mitsubishi anyways. its pretty much the eclipse, right?

Your body style is a ST22 body. Meaning its a dodge body with the mitsubishi powertrain. The dodge D50 trucks were the same way as were the dodge colts. Thats why I ask if the member has a 2.0 or 3.0 engine, this way I know what body I try to help with. The other dodge stratus bodys are JA and JR. Just so you know the FJ body was the same platform as the ST22. The FJ was the 1st gen avenger/ sebring. They had the 2.0 and 2.5 engines. Sorry to make a long story, but you are right. Its a Mitsubishi .

yeah its a 3.0 engine. they made it sound like my car was stalling because of the mitsubishi dist. and all i could think was that they didnt know what they were talking about.
