Unhappy 04' R/T coupe misfire turns into 6G74 swap

Ok, like the title says, I've got an 04' Stratus R/T Coupe 3.0 v6. The car had been sitting for 4+ yrs before I started to work on it. I've replaced the fuel pump & sock, removed all the old stale nasty smelling gas and blew the lines clear (front to back) then dumped a bottle of SeaFoam fuel system cleaner in it and put in fresh gas. I've also replaced a couple of vacuum hose for the EVAP system that were dry rotted. When I run the car, I get the code for an engine miss and when I do another test with the "Terminator" Diagnostic scanner, I get a code for a lean condition bank #2. There is a function that I can do that disables each injector 1 at a time. When I do this, #s 1 & 3 there is absolutely no change in how the engine runs. #5 there is a very slight difference, but when I do #s 2,4 &6, there is a big difference. So, I'm thinking that I have 2 and half bad/clogged injectors. Which bank is #2? The one closest to the firewall? Thanks in advance for any and all replies.
John

Thanks pear01. That was extremely usefull, I now know that the bank towards the firewall is bank #2 and what the ohm's should be for the injectors. Mine are within spec. Now on to check the plugs and wires to find the cause of the 2 1/2 dead cylinders

I was just thinking, If it were the plugs not firing, wouldn't I be getting a rich code because of the unburnt fuel? So maybe that even though the injectors are testing good, might be that they are plugged?

So I pulled the plenum, pulled and checked each plug wire (all checked good), pulled and checked the rear plugs , uh.... plugs are wet with NO signs of firing. So I pulled the front plugs and they are burning nicely. I then ran a compression check cylinders 2,4,6 had 185 each, cylinders 1,3,5 had absolutely no compression at all. I removed the cam cover and the cam/rockers/valves are all moving.

Could the lash adjusters be way too tight?

A little more history on the car is that approx 2 yrs ago both heads had been placed because the timing belt had broken bending the intake valves on both heads. Another guy that used to work here did the replacement work.
Any thoughts as to where the compression went?? No oil in the water and vise versa.

The lash adjusters are hydraulic, and are self adjusting, so unless they were all bad (12 of them in the rear which is unlikely) theres no way they could be the source of your low compression problem in all the rear cylinders. Sounds like it could be a head gasket issue, but im not sure.

I was looking thru the file for this car and I didn't find anything about the heads that were changed being checked for flatness either. From what I was told, right after the heads were changed, the guy no longer worked here. Since there doesn't appear to any fluids where they shouldn't be. I'm also thinking that the guy might have torqued the head improperly.

Well, I just finished putting pressure into each of the dead cylinders. Bent intake valves The wonderful idiot who changed the heads apparently didn't make sure the cam on that head was timed correctly before start up. I guess it's either another head swap or entire engine swap. Might just pull this engine and go thru it completely and do a few upgrades. What do you all think...suggest?

I say ditch the 6G72 and swap in either a 6G74 or 6G75.

6G74 or 6G75 it is. It's going to cost as much for the head rebuild as it would for a swap.

Here's a newbie ??? for you. I'm assuming that the 6G74 is the 3.5 engine?? I found a really low mile 3.5 for $350. What else will I need for this swap? I read on club3G that I'll need the axle bracket from the Diamante. Any ideas of what else??

Thanks
John
