2002 Dodge Status Sedan 2.7L automatic - #8 starter fuse blows
#11
For the following test "Key in OFF position
Starter relay removed
connect test light to battery +
make contact with relay socket terminal that feeds the S post on the stater.” The test light lit up. I will redo to verify I probed correct socket.
After that I wanted to verify I was probing correct relay socket terminal (#87 of relay). So I put relay back in. With test light clip connected to ground, I probed the disconnected trigger wire and turned ignition to start, light lit and I measured 11.9V as well. Fuse didn’t blow since trigger wire not connected to starter. Yes, trigger wire is a brown wire. I thought ohm’ing out from wire clip to relay socket would confirm I was on correct socket.
All the wires are wrapped in original factory wrap. I had checked under fuse/relay box and it’s really clean, wires look good.
I have Haynes manual.

To isolate circuit disconnect small wire for test, not sure what those simbols are you see inside starter!
This is not your car but theory the same, it shows wires shorted to ground, also shows wires shorted to other wires and that's not good at all. It could get the computer! There are 3 videos this is the last.

I redid the following test.
"Key in OFF position
Starter relay removed
connect test light to battery +
make contact with relay socket terminal that feeds the S post on the stater.”
The test light lit up. I removed trigger wire to S post and light turned off so I know I was on the correct relay socket.
Great find on that tool!

New test:
"Key in ON position
Starter relay removed
connect test light to battery - NEG
make contact with relay socket terminal that feeds the S post on the stater.”
Done
Did you ever find the diagrams for eng controls?
