Default 2005 Stratus Info

hello everyone. i am a new owner of a 2005 stratus R/T coupe with a 5-speed manual 3.0L V6. anyway i was just wondering if you could help me out with a few questions.

What is the Engine code for this motor?

Is this the same motor used in the 00-05 Eclipse V6?

Is it a Dodge motor or a Mitsubishi motor?

will bolt-on parts (intake, Exhaust components) for the previous Stratus 3.0L V6 work for the 2005 model?

if no, does anyone know where i can find parts for this vehicle?

what kind of potential does this vehicle have, performance-wise?

also, my car's redline is 6200, theres still 1800 more Rpms after that on my gauge. i know i can get more use out of that. what do you think i would need to acheive that? do you think i would have to work on the bottom end of the engine or just the heads?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

hello everyone. i am a new owner of a 2005 stratus R/T coupe with a 5-speed manual 3.0L V6. anyway i was just wondering if you could help me out with a few questions.

What is the Engine code for this motor? 6g72, which is one the most commonly used V6 engine models by the Mitsubishi corp.

Is this the same motor used in the 00-05 Eclipse V6? Yes.

Is it a Dodge motor or a Mitsubishi motor? Mitsubishi

will bolt-on parts (intake, Exhaust components) for the previous Stratus 3.0L V6 work for the 2005 model? yes, as will most 00-05 eclipse GT and GTS parts, but some eclipse [arts may not.

if no, does anyone know where i can find parts for this vehicle? while some parts wont fit, you will be able to find that most does, and what few things do not, with enough hunting, and deep enough pockets, stuff is available.

what kind of potential does this vehicle have, performance-wise? I have seen a high 400/low 500 hp RT.

also, my car's redline is 6200, theres still 1800 more Rpms after that on my gauge. i know i can get more use out of that. what do you think i would need to acheive that? do you think i would have to work on the bottom end of the engine or just the heads? The redline rpm is typically the peak hp range, or the highest rpm that the manufacturer feels is safe. most guys running built RTs are shifting well before that (5800ish). It will not benefit you to over-rev the engine unless you changed things like the camshaft, which would shift the powerband, and then altered things like the fuel cutout (rev limiter). If you were to have the head ported and polished, and say install headers, remove the cat, and install a slightly bigger TB with the eclipse GTS or the 6g74 intake plenum, you would see more power, but the peak rpm range would be the same, within reason.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

What would you say is the weak spot of this car, whether it be the Transmission, Engine components, clutch, etc.. what would be most likely to malfunction first due to increasing the power of the engine

from what ive seen of the high hp RTs, the first problem is the clutch. guys with huge HP are having problems with the bottom end of the engine, but there are better pistons and rods out there, if you have the cash.

Is the 5-speed manual transmission for the V6 the same for both Eclipse and Stratus vehicles?

i am almost positive. If you get a good look at an 01 or 02 RT, and the similar year Eclipses, you will see that literally everything aside from the body is the same, even the interior.

well, i have seen a few high performance RTs in person, and i have heard no complaint, but keep in mind, if you double the stock HP on most cars, you will have trouble with things, especially with a stock tranny.

wait, correct me if i'm wrong but wasnt the 3000GT VR4 a 6g72 motor? and if that is true, would it be possible at all to bolt on the Turbo headers, possibly giving us Turbo capability for the Stratus
