Default 2001 R/T Heater

I apologize if this topic has already been addressed and I missed it.

I just bought my R/T last month and I'm having issues with how long it takes for the heater to warm the passenger compartment... especially with the frigid temps we've had in the midwest for the past few days. Although, the issue isn't completely simple. Obviously it'll take time to warm up, but it seems to alternate between warm and cool air... seemingly in a cyclical pattern.

Undoubtedly, I will be calling the dealer on this matter, but cosidering a couple other issues for which they haven't been able to pinpoint a cause, I'd like to present them with ideas (other than the thermostat) if anyone knows of anything.

i find that to be VERY odd, as my AC and heater seem to get working VERY quickly.

The dealer says it's probably just a matter of a slow-response thermostat. Additionally, they said that since car is originally from Florida, the thermostat just simply may not be able to 'cope' with the needs of a midwest winter.

they put the same thermostat in every car...unless it was changed. i have a lower degree t-stat in my RT, and the damn heater would still cook you out, and in a hurry.

Does the cold air start to come when not acceleration like at stop sign or traffic light. I had a problem similar with my 01 Sedan Se where it would stop giving heat when off the gas. They found an air pocket in my radiator. Maybe this will help.

Yes, the cool air does seem to be more prominent at lower RPM's, I'll mention this to the dealer. Thanks.

It was a combination of an air pocket and low coolant... although the coolant level was prob'ly lower after bleeding out the air pocket.
