its not just a cold engine knock... you can hear it from inside the house with the car in the driveway... its truly embaressing driving a car like mine when it sounds like the engine is about to blow up.

Could be a lifter as pat said. Hows your alternator? Ive discovered a bad alternator makes alot of noise and if your running alot of audio systems theres a good chance your killing it. Check your lifter and also hows your oil, if you have too much or not enough its gonna make the thing sound and run like *** too.

Alternator should be under warrenty because its part of regular maintenance, if youve had systems in that thing for the life of the car I say your alternator might be overdue but I dont think thats the cause of your noise.

Some things to check like possibly thick/dirty oil might not be getting to your lifters and that could cause the knocking. Might even be a rocker arm, or even possibly a **** oil pump not giving you any pressure. Plugged oil port, so on and so fourth.

All this should be covered under your warrenty.
