chips
Ive not heard of a chip for the Mitsubishi that works, so I think you are best saveing your money. Currently there is a company that is in the process cracking the ECU for full mappong control, but they are not selling outside thier garage yet. Many of us are waiting with high hopes.
Last I heard, it didnt work with the Mitsu Coupe, only the sedan with 2.7. Something about the connector differences?
This is all I know of that has promise for my 3.0 Mitsu

My understanding is that they are serious about getting a Strat setup as well.

hmm...so you dont trust Kenne Bell's claims? I found their website, they even have a dyno chart which specifies "01+ 3.0L Stratus/Sebring"...and they got 13whp out of it...and they also have a flash for the 6g72 stealths/3000gt's...I have pften considered it, but my car is an automatic, and is last on our chain of "where mod money goes".
here are a few links:
http://www.kennebell.net/accessories...optimizer2.htm
http://www.kennebell.net/techinfo/do...-test-data.pdf
and all that, for 349.00
i also like their site because they state how much they got out of removing and changing things on the dyno...

I've not gone deep enough into it to have likes or dislikes.
If you go to the 2gstratus.org site and use the search function, this topic has been covered many many times.
What I read there is that I'm out of luck with my '02 3.0l Coupe ‘cause the mod is not yet available. There seem to be many who have attempted to directly contact the company for more info with money in hand, yet none have the mod yet....
This observation has me thinking that the product is not up to our general needs yet and not offered for the majority of Strats out there.
Inversely, both the 2gstratus site, and the club3g eclipse forums (http://www.eclipseforums.org/forums.html) are dancing like children having to go pee real bad waiting for this "real" ECU crack that is in the works....
Again, just an observation of other "more mod interested" peoples reactions to the two products we have discussed here. Perhaps you have gotten more information than they are sharing?
peace

i really dont know...i was not well liked at 2G because i didnt have lambo doors, or gawdy 19 inch wheels...or a $10,000 forced induction setup only to run 13s...then they changed their system (or it crashed) and i stopped going there....
another thing, i know that Ripp used to sell a replacement ECU..do they not offer that now? I have been to their site recently, and they appear to have changed from a site which helped build sleepers to a site that promotes ugly *** ricers...i see that they do still offer the "Ripp black Box", but i know a few guys who went with that setup and a bottle, who ran lean and blew the motor...
did you have a look at the kenne bell stuff? I have seen a few guys with the "jet switch", and it has done nothing...

I understand the problems you’ve had on 2G, and it has been difficult for me as well, as the average age of a Stratus Coupe owners seems to be 20+ years younger than me. Still the "Kids" learn quickly, and have the true love of modifying cars, much like myself in years past. If I can just put aside this fascination with this odd ricer stuff (drives me nuts!), and let them discover some of the more interesting parts of this car, I/we benefit from their enthusiasm.
As for engine management, keep in mind I’m now on my 4th Mitsu. (follows my Saporro, Starion, and Galant VR-4), and the Strat is the first that I have little intent on moding. She is my daily driver, and little else.
The Mitsus of my past had very similar ECU problems, and I’ve not gone in depth to computer mods on this car for that reason. I pay only minor attention to that topic these days, but still have fleeting interest
If I were to consider anything with the ECU, my first choice would be to simply dump the factory unit in favor of a Haltech (http://www.haltech.com.au/). It is about the only true Guarantee of getting the darn Mitsu. computers out of the way. This new company seems to offer the next best choice, as they claim to provide a laptop interface and software to re-curve your ECU maps yourself.
Again, I have only read that no one has had success getting info from Kenne Bell regarding the 2g Coupe.
Best of luck

wow..color me envious of your past cars list...i am a huge starion/conquest fan...id like very much to have one someday...and i am well aware of the "modability" of the VR-4 galants [8D]
I have heard of haltech, as i still read around from time to time at 2G...im just not active...
i suppose that if i was more intent on modding this car heavily, i would look into/know more about the "chips", or tunes, but i only know what i have read...

Thanks,
I decided to get busy and add the Strat to my cars page.
You can check it and my others out HERE
I still have the Starion, although with a bad motor. I also consider it my favorite car by far. (I think that is why i stll hold hopes of referbing her with a new motor some day.)
