Hello, I'm new here. Thanks for the info. I've had my Stratus RT 04 6cyl for a few months now and hadn't really looked at the air intake. Couldn't believe what I read here and sure enough, the plastic grille on the driver's side covers up the air scoop. Guess I assumed that the engineers would know better? Removed the plastic grille, used a temporary metal mesh instead. Sounds great, feels great, it definitely added more HP, waiting to see what it does to mpg. Planning on modifying intake on my own, would like to keep some sort of air scoop. Will let you know what happens.

your lucky, my 02 r/t had the intake running to where the hood closes... so it was scooping air from the hood and bumper seal.... i want to mod the stock intake so it will act as true ram air... my fans are in the way of the plastic grilles... anybody have any ideas on how to make ram air in an 02 r/t??

I put a short ram on mine (Red 02 3.0L R/T) I got about 2-3 MPG when I drive nicely. It seem to pull really well for having only 200HP at the flywheel.

All youl need is a flat head screw driver and a metric 10mm wrench to completely remove the stock air induction system. You can get an intake cheap on E-bay (as I did) The intake I got however didn't fit properly (not that I expected it to) so I just used the ram tube the comes from the throttle body put the MAF on the end of that then a K&N filter on. It didnt actually connect to anything so I had to use some scrap metal to make a bracket using the stock chassis connectors for the stock intake. Some vinyl zip ties, 50 bucks and two hours (I took a food break) later I got 2-3 MPG a meaner sounding engine and better high end pick up on the inner state.

no problem. Though I doubt I was actually that helpfull. Just dont expect anything more then 5-10HP and 2-3 MPG, thats realistic.
