You obviously did not read the link at the top of the post. He said bye bye because the concept to compete with the Blue Devil concept has 675HP and 650 FT/LB torque from a non SC engine.

DC does make a V8 that puts out that much power, they just do not put it into a production car. They sell it as a crate engine, and yes, it is a Hemi. Once the Viper is up to 600+HP you may see this Hemi in a Challenger or something like that. It is the same theory that GM uses, they are not going to make a Camaro that out performs their flagship car, the Vette.

 

In other words bye bye blue devil. The best part is the viper is supposed to be completely redisigned in 2010.[8D]

 

Yeah right kid. The blue devil will not dissapoint. If the Viper doesn't have atleast 60+hp over the Vette, my money is on the Corvette....

 

675 will do the trick. Once again the viper win with horsepower. Blue Devil with only 650. Best part is the vipers not using a super charger but can.

 

Some quick thoughts...Track times for a viper are better. Chevy geared the new Z06 specifically for zero-60 and quarter mile times thats how they run them so fast. when dodge wakes up and puts new gear ratios (3:73) ?they will win in a straight line. Read in mopar mag a 98 GTS Stock with 3:73? gears and slicks ran 11.5 @ 128, imagine a new srt10 with 4:56 gears and slicks. Dont fear the gear!!!!!! I love the Z06 but my heart just melts for vipers.

 

The Corvette will only be lacking 25hp if that. Knowing GM that means that it will really have about 680hp...

 

The Viper has larger tires than the Z06. Thats the only reason why it has slighty better track times...As far as the gears go..the Z06 only has 3.42..thats nothing to boast about..The LS7 is just a better product..and so is the Z06. When the new Viper hits the streets then we'll have a true challenger..

 

In the end, it's competition that improves the breed. If the (animal) impalas wern't so fleet, would the cheeta be the fastest animal on earth? and if the cheetas wern't fast, the impalas would look like 1/4 scale cows.
If the Corvette gets faster, so does the Viper. The Corvette has more tech then the Viper, but still consideres it squarely as competition. So the game of one upmanship continues...

 

Monzsta that is true. I don't have a a viper(QC SRT10 Ram). with the srt ram dodge switched to a 4:56 gear from 4:10 and it made a big difference. a 3:73 gear could take 2/10 off a quarter. but you are right importkilla chevy did do a good thing with the LS7 and new Z06.

And yes I owned three Vipers all Gen's and a 06 Zo6. I for one will never buy another Vette. Although I will say my 05 Ford Gt rocks them both. Except forsome bolt issues...................
