When it was new it put out about 95 to 100 hp and 100 to 105 ft lbs of torque. And I haven't noticed much difference in it the last 9-1/2 years except for recently....one of my carbs is dirty from the ethanol they put in the gas, it sits too much.
It is an amazing bike to ride. Cruises like a big cruiser but will absolutely scream. And it corners really well as long as you keep your heels and footpegs off the ground.

^^^^^ Actually fairly well, even with my big a$$ on my Valkyrie and my 130# ex-wife on the V-Rod. Where she got ahead is when mine got in the top of the RPM range (around 7200) she had another 1800 RPM (approximately) until she hit the top end of the V-Rod's range. So basically, as soon as I shifted from 1st to 2nd, she was gone. But, I would pull back up to her when she shifted too but it wouldn't take long and she would pull away again. However, for top speed safety-wise, I would take mine any day. That V-Rod rocks and rolls (buffets) at high speeds, and those solid wheels didn't help.
I've heard the solid wheel complaint before, interesting about the wind buffeting rockin and rollin at higher speeds.
I had an 04 FXDLI,with stage 2 BB kit power commander V&H Pipes it would run pretty well but it would start getting squirly around 95-100, My 08 Ultra with the Stage 2 103 kit runs good for a bigger bike but strangly with fairing and all it feels rock steady at 110mph,go figure,lol...
