Default switched to synthetic

i went from castrol gtx to synthetic blend for the transition phase and yesterday i changed my oil with mobile 1 5w40 synthetic truck formula. the results were good, the engine ran smoother (no peakiness) and it was quieter, i like... so far anyway.

I'm on my first run with Mobil 1 and the thing I noticed right away was the extra 10 PSI my guage reads. Before it would idle worm at 25-30 and now with the Mobil 1 it idles at just a 1/2 needle under 40. I also pickes up at least 10 PSI while going down the highway. I'm not sure about the smooth running part as I did the intake and installed the APS Billet pan at the same time. I know it idles at just a hair over 600 now and was almost 750 before I touched it.

I switched to Amsoil 5W30 in the crankcase and Amsoil 75W90 in both diffs.
Seems smoother, but my ride tends to break teeth while bouncing down the road anyway, can't reaaly tell fer sure.
And fuel savings??? Dunno you can still see the gauge drop while driving, but I think it may be a little better.
The real test will be the extension of the vehicle's life

I went down one step to 0W-30 Amsoil for the "winter" here since most engine wear occurs during start up. Getting a little better mpg and smoother running first thing in the morning. Plan on switching to 0w-40 for the summer, the 30 weight is just too "light" for the blistering heat here in Texas plus the heat of the turbo....

I'm still runnung my first change over. I plan on running it the usual 3000 miles and then change it again and go for 5000 to see how it holds up. That's just what I plan on doing. I'm not sure if there if there is any special way to do it.

your best bet is with the way synthetics are constructed just drain real good and refill run for 3000 then drain and go a normal 5 to 6000 miles. the cleaning ability of a quality synthetic will work without an addition of a flush. while you can do this if you feel better by all means but it is not nessicary. make sure when you run synthetic to choose a quality filter such as wix, supertech, motor craft , k&n or mobil1,baldwin, amsoil....ect
