What did you change? A lot of times an exhaust change screws with the oxygen sensor(s). Our trucks typically have one before and one after the cat. It looks for a difference between the two readings to be in a set range. You put a high-flow exhaust on or junk the cat, you often will put the difference out of the range and trigger a code.

The rear oxygen sensor might have gotten messed up. Were the pipes and muffler stock replacements or high-flow?

Have you checked the trouble code yet? That would normally give you a pretty good idea of what is causing the MIL to illuminate. If you don't have the ability to check your codes yourself, I believe Autozone still offers free code scans. Be sure to write down the "P-code" (P0XXX or P1XXX), and post it here.

I'm going with snafu on this one. . .I changed out the exhaust on my taco and had the same thing. . .drove it around for a bit and it went away. it's prolly just your O2 sensor.

if it doesnt clear out after a while of driveing the it could be your O2 sensor did go out

Try reseting the PCM by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 30-60 mins. That will clear all the trouble codes, if it comes back find out what code it is and post it here and we will help you.
