looking for anyone who has used a 1" spacer between throttle body and manifold?? i have a 99 ram 1500 with a 5.9 and am considering a spacer,I have heard they give about 15 more hp and 2-6 more mpg.looking to see if anyone has used them and found they actually work or just not worth the price and work??? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

 

I've never heard anything good about a spacer on our engine. 15 more HP is a crock... LOL! At least, in my opinion. 2-6 MPG is also false... that's a FAR stretch... I wish you the best though!!

Sorry but all the spacer is good for is a paperweight.

 

you could buy this blower. . .it would give you more power than that spacer and cost less too

 

Spacers work about as good as the blowers they sell on ebay for $200 to turbo charge you car.

These spacers do not provide any gains in HP at all. They claim to increase TQ and MPG but we tested one and it gained nothing. The Dyno showed no gains in HP or TQ. We also had contacted one of the manufacturers for their comments on them and here's the direct quote (from email):

Points to look at:

So...it doesn't make any more HP, is not supposed to help in 1/4 mile performance (or on the Dyno), and is mainly for mileage and bottom end Torque. Well, Dyno's show TQ figures and there were no changes, mileage stayed the same, and 1/4 mile performance wasn't affected on the several others who have tried it (including us). They also are still not able to explain how the spacer keeps the swirl effect through the two turns (90 degree and 45 degree) in the intake plenum of the Dodge Ram/Dakota/Durango manifolds.

While the Throttle Body Spacer showed no gains on the 3.9/5.2/5.9L Magnum engines, the 4.7L engines have been reported to show noticeable gains from the spacer. Why? It's a much more efficient intake system with less restrictions than the Magnum engines. It may work just fine for the 4.7L crowd but we'll look into this at a later date for Dyno and long term MPG testing.

 

speedtweeks also has a note on spacers on the site as well , saying the same as snipert has mentioned . but how has the fast man tb worked for everyone is my question?

 

A TB is a whole different animal. That actually increases the amount of air comming into the intake.

 

Wow Am I glad I found this post. I wanted to buy one of the spacers for my truck because I read all that B/S about the hp gains and mpg gains...Guess I will just save for my headers and tints now...

 

The Fastman TB (52mm in my case) was one of the best mods I've done. I recommend it highly.
