87 K-car, ANY upgrades a
I was given a Plymouth Reliant recently. It's in fair shape and came from a family member. My son will be driving soon so i figured it would be a decent first car for him. He really likes "The Fast & Furious" style cars. I'm working on my own projects so money is kinda tight. Junkyard scrounging is not above me, so I guessany stock items from other2.2 cars that will bolt in is what I'm asking about.(wheels, turbo and wiring needed, seats too[replace bench seat]) Help me out Mopar gurus!
Heres the place to check out, they carry parts for non-turbo 2.2L & 2.5L as well. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

Thanks for the site. That will come in handy when we get serious with this car. But for now i think we better stick to cosmetic things. I really want to change the wheels first, but don't know what will interchange. Do Caravans have the same bolt pattern and similar offset that would work on a K car?I want to go with 15" or 16" wheels with lo-pros for looks. What kind of mufflers make that "Fast and Furious" sound?(that's a great sound from 4 cylinders!) Later on when he's actually driving maybe we'll change the motor for a turbo motor. Any help for this FWD idiot will be appreciated. Suggestions(other than scrapping) would be helpful. I don't want my kid embarrassed to drive this car.
Borla and Apexi make real good grapefruit shooter mufflers. I'll find a few sites for you to check out for the muffler and other F&F type stuff. Here are a few places for wheels and tires, you can even preview the wheels on the car and they will only let you select the ones that will fit the car.

Been doing a lot of surfing lately and found some cool sites with 2.2 turbo info. When it comes to geting a turbo motor I know I want a turboII, but from what car do I need to get it? After I get one the sites you gave me and others I've found on my own will come into play. I'll probably just use the motor in it till I find the right turboII motor then build up the turbo motor cause converting this one to turbo would be too tuff and not as reliable.
Most '87-'90 Daytona Shelby Z's or Daytona Shelbys have the 2.2L Turbo II, the 5th VIN # should be an "A". Some '89-'90 turbo Lebarons have the Turbo II as well as some '90 Shadows. The Turbo II's are easily identified by the intercooler which is located on the drivers side, right next to the radiator. It will have a ribbed hose coming from it going into the air box.
The only thing i know about upgrading a k-car 2.2L is to get a 2.2L turbo Shadow

The K-car is on the back burner for a while, until I get my garage built, anyway. I am always seeking more information and trying to locate a proper doner car. I'd like to get a complete car so everything I'll need for a turbo conversion will be there. Still trying to decide if it should be sleeper style or fast and furious flash.
Well in my opinion...
Shooting for a "fast and the furious" car would be a bit... tacky
i would say sleeper personally, cause then you can show all the little ricers who the man is and put them in their place with a K-Car[sm=smiley36.gif][sm=smiley36.gif][sm=smiley36.gif][sm=smiley36.gif]
Haha, proud Honda owner indeed...

I, myself, would also prefer the total sleeper "gramdma" car. Then however this car is being built to my son's expectations. I found a really slick Reliant @ Donovan's Dodge Garage. This car is what I would want for myself. Body is totally stock in appearance, but the thing runs 10's in the 1/4 mile!!! Justin (my son) wants an RX-7 like Vin Diesel on Fast And Furious. I know these cars are fast and they do look good, but they're rice. He wants my Trans Am, but I say it's just for looks and he'd only get tickets in it doing stupid stuff like I used to do. We inherited this Reliant when my wife's grandmother passed, and I figured it would be a great first car (compared to the Vega I started with). But he wanted a hot rod cool car that wasn't "wack". That's when I started looking for ideas that would peak his interest. He wants the wing thing and ground effects and all. It would all have to be hand made, (and I could do it) but I don't think it would be "right" anyway. He really wants the "Relentless Reliant" From Donovan. He's turning 14 this year so I've got time to do this car for him.
Here's a shot of our Reliant.
