Default Over Heating

Good Morning Everyone,
I purchased a 1977 Trail Duster yesterday and I do love it...I used to be a ford man but now I have a new Love DODGE! Its loud, ugly and barely running...All the things Iam looking for but I was hoping someone could tell me where to start.

The temp guage keeps going up but I dont think the temperature of the engine is simply because its 7 degrees today...any ideas where to start to trouble shoot it?
1977 Dodge Trailduster 318 V8

any help would be greate

try the thermostat 1st, then the radiator, and lastly the water pump. If you have fluid in the radiator and its not leaking thats where I would start. Other than that the block could be clogged, a flush kit might not be a bad idea, they are only a few bucks
